NFL great and GFL legend, Bradley Roby is giving back to the GFL

GFL THANKS YOU BRADLEY!

GFL Legend, Bradley Roby

The GFL is proud to welcome, Bradley Roby as a 2023 Sponsor

The Gwinnett Football League is very proud to announce that GFL Legend, BRADLEY ROBY, has agreed to be a PLATINUM SPONSOR for the 2023 Season.  Roby began his career as a nine year-old player for the Lilburn Patriots in the year 2000.  He would finish his GFL career with the Patriots before becoming a Peachtree Ridge Lion in 2006, where he was spectacular as a two-way player.  His highly decorated high school career would lead to an athletic scholarship to The Ohio State University where he would receive both All-Big 10 and All- American honors as a defensive back.  The NFL would then come calling to the tune of making him the 31st overall pick of the FIRST ROUND by the Denver Broncos.  Roby would win a Super Bowl with the Broncos before moving on to play for the Houston Texans and now the New Orleans Saints.  Now in his TENTH YEAR in the NFL, Roby not only remains one of the top defensive backs in the NFL;  he also serves as a mentor and trainer to younger and less experienced players around the League.

For MANY years, Bradley Roby has given back to the community in which he was raised by having a FREE Annual Football Camp at Peachtree Ridge Park.  He is now also electing to give back to the GFL as a  way to help the youth of today to have the same opportunity that he was given many years ago!

Please join us as we both THANK and RECOGNIZE GFL Legend BRADLEY ROBY!

GFL welcomes our newest sponsor, EL-AMIN Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute

Welcome EL-AMIN to the GFL

The Gwinnett Football League is very proud to announce that it has reached an agreement with El-Amin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute as our Corporate Sponsor for the 2023 season.  For many years Dr. Saadiq El-Amin and his staff have served the Gwinnett Community by providing high quality medical services.  Dr. El-Amin can normally be found on the sidelines of several football teams in Gwinnett County on Friday nights during the Fall.  In addition to our local athletes, Dr. El-Amin and his staff have also treated many collegiate and professional athletes around the country.  Upon hearing that the GFL needed a Corporate Sponsor for the 2023 Season, he was quick to respond and offer his sponsorship.

The GFL would like to publicly thank and recognize Dr. Saadiq El-Amin and El-Amin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute as our 2023 Corporate Sponsor.

GFL Mourns The Loss Of Bradley Coleman

The Gwinnett Football League family was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Coach Bradley Coleman, whose life was cut tragically short in a senseless act of violence. He was gunned downed in a gas station parking lot by attempted carjackers while he was simply filling his tires with air.

Bradley grew up playing football at our Norcross Youth Athletic Association and then continued playing at Norcross High School.  From there he went on to Southern University where he was a part of the 2013 SWAC Championship.  After college, he returned to Georgia where he coached both football and basketball at Mountain View High School and then at Peachtree Ridge High School.  He had also started his own clothing line called PASCHER.

Coach Coleman was a mentor to countless young athletes  both on and off the field.  His presence will be greatly missed in the lives of all who knew him as evident by the hundreds who showed up to honor his memory at a recent candlelight vigil.

Above all else, Brad’s greatest pride was his young daughter, who will be starting elementary school this fall.  A GoFundMe page has been set up for his daughter to help cover funeral costs and set up a trust for her future. https://gofund.me/1c2bd3c6

A dear friend of Brad’s, Jay McCloskey, says “Coach Coleman’s smile lit up any room and he brought a level of enthusiasm and energy that made everyone around him better. His passion for the game and impacting the lives of young athletes was unmatched. Coach Coleman will be dearly missed by many. We have lost a good one, one of the very best”.

The GFL, it’s member associations and all of its participants lift up our thoughts and prayers to Coach Coleman’s family and loved ones.  May the spirit of who he was remain ever present in the lives of those who loved him most.

GFL POLICY STATEMENT

TO OUR GFL FAMILY: For more than three decades the GWINNETT FOOTBALL LEAGUE (GFL) has faithfully served the Greater Gwinnett Community by operating one of the premier Youth Football and Cheerleading programs in the entire country. The GFL is a Recreational Football League which today serves as a feeder program for most of the High Schools in the Gwinnett County, GA area. The GFL and its many volunteers that serve as coaches, trainers, team moms and dads, concessions and gate workers, and parents are proud of this League and for the many PRINCIPLES for which it stands. The GFL has a NO TOLERANCE POLICY for Racism, Sexism, or any other type of DISCRIMINATION based on the ethnicity, color, creed, sex, age, and / or sexual preference of any child and / or parent of a child participating in the GFL.

During the 2021 season it was reported that a coach at one of the GFL’s eighteen Associations made a racial slur directed at one of his players. The Association took immediate action by suspending the coach indefinitely the very next day pending an investigation. The GFL Board of Directors then performed a thorough investigation, reported the findings to the Association, and then reported the findings to the GFL membership. As a result of our findings, the coach in question received a LIFETIME SUSPENSION from both the Association in which he coached and from the GFL as a whole. This is the MAXIMUM PENALTY that can be issued by the GFL!
